Vat Wash Checklist

Preparation

Empty vat completely
Ensure all milk has been removed and transferred
Isolate vat systems
Turn off electrical systems connected to vat

Cleaning Steps

Pre-rinse
Rinse vat thoroughly with warm water (minimum 40°C)
Detergent wash
Add detergent solution per manufacturer specs, circulate 15 min
Intermediate rinse
Rinse with clean water until pH neutral
Sanitize
Apply sanitizer (chlorine or peracetic acid), follow contact time
Final rinse
Final rinse with potable water

Verification

Check & record
Verify surfaces clean, sanitizer concentration correct, log in book
Vat wash complete! Ready for next milking.
